Body treatments The difference between beauty and professional remedial massage and aromatherapy is that... ...no beauty therapist is qualified to treat as a stand-alone massage therapist or aromatherapist; they are not allowed to call themselves a massage therapist or aromatherapist. The level of anatomy, physiology and pathology which they have been taught is minimal and they are not qualified to blend on an individual basis |

Aromatherapy
Calm place of tranquillity away from work,
anti-stress ~ relaxation, Your body will feel at peace as you lie back in the aromatic atmosphere under your wonderfully warm towels with relaxing music. All elements of the body are addressed; physical, emotional and spiritual imbalances at the same time. Aromatherapy combines the benefits of massage with the therapeutic effects of a blend of sweet essential oils ~ chosen individually for you ~ and added to the carrier oil ~ take home your massage oil in a bottle to use at home where required. These wonderful oils have come from carefully chosen plants ~ they are produced in tiny droplets between the cells and contain hormones, vitamins, antibiotics and antiseptics ~ the essential oils have specific therapeutic properties. During and after an Aromatherapy treatment these essential oils are absorbed through the skin (unchanged by digestion). The oils’ aromas have a subtle effect on the way we feel; they fine tune your body and leave you with a terrific sense of well-being about life, ourselves and the environment we live in. Our rooms are comfortable, warm and welcoming and our therapists non judgmental, confidential and professional. Suggestions are available on exercise ~ home massage~ better posture~ breathing and relaxation techniques. Kinesiology "It's so good to know what foods suit me best" Kinesiology is perhaps best known for testing food sensitivities but this is only a very small part of what it can help. Kinesiology identifies any imbalances by checking the clients ability to hold their muscles against light pressure (muscle testing). Each muscle is related to an organ, and also an energy pathway or meridian which forms a "circuit". If there are chemical, emotional, structural or energetic stresses affecting the circuit the muscle tested will not be able to sustain pressure and will feel "spongy". Once an imbalance is found the kinesiologist uses the muscle test again to find out from the persons body what exactly is causing the problem, and what will help to rebalance it; and devise a treatment plan. This may include nutritional supplements, emotional stress release techniques (including flower remedies), rubbing acupressure points, gentle structural realignment, firm reflex massage, suggesting lifestyle and dietary changes and more. How long a problem takes to resolve depends on several factors; whether the condition is acute or chronic, how long you’ve had it, whether or not you are good about taking your recommended supplements or cutting out certain foods, whether you are taking antibiotics or other medication. As many, seemingly unrelated, pains and /or conditions are often connected to a few overriding imbalances, all manner of conditions can be corrected using Kinesiology. If you have a back problem and regularly see a chiropractor this suggests that there is an underlying issue with your muscles or ligaments that goes beyond mere bone misalignment and which structural work alone is not addressing (otherwise you shouldn’t need repeated trips to the chiropractor). There may be a nutritional deficiency that needs addressing in order to permanently strengthen the muscles or ligaments to hold the spine in the correct position. Whether you want just a general check-up or a problem resolved, Kinesiology can be used. It is a particularly good idea to have a treatment if there are congenital health imbalances running in your family such as heart disease, diabetes or asthma. This makes sure that you minimise your chances of developing these conditions yourself.

Healing The key is that healing should always be given as an offering of unconditional love, with an approach of ‘thy will be done’. It is not for the healer to determine what the client needs or desires. The healer may use their many skills to help the client to achieve their own state of balance within any given circumstance; this is not necessarily the same as ‘cure’. However, the side effects of this space of balance and healing may be cure from the illness or disease; alternatively there may be a new attitude within the individual on how to deal with their circumstance Healing can be of great value in a variety of different situations; depression, stress and other conditions which have become all too familiar in modern society; it allows the client to regain their own sense of balance and harmony. Releasing the innate healing abilities possessed by us all assists the client with the removal of blockages to their energetic system thus allowing this system to return to a more balanced state. The healer is able to help the client to achieve the changes they desire in their own way. These changes can happen on every level of the clients system – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. The ancient art form using crystals is natural, gentle and non invasive and can enhance your natural inclination for optimum health. The healer’s task is to use their skills to create the space for the individual to enable their own healing ~ rather like a physician who creates the space for mending a broken leg by applying a plaster cast to the leg, but it is actually the individual’s own leg that heals itself. By giving healing, the healer may be able to effect a change in the mental, or emotional state of the client which allows them to deal better with their disease process.

S.V.A,
Dip.V.F.S.C.H., A.C.H.O I could not believe so much could have changed thanks to my crystal therapy" "I feel like I have been given a new lease of life" Depression anxiety stress related conditions low self esteem, exhaustion My special field is mental health (cognitive, behavioural emotional and physical) I worked for 18 years in mental health and social care and have studied psychology and depression. Helping my own son brought me to crystal therapy. The deep insight I gained is integral to my work now as a therapist. The consultation itself sometimes acts as a catalyst to bring about profound change. The energetics of the crystals which I select enable you to to release outmoded ways of behaviour or gain a deep insight into the cause of the problem. While you lie comfortably on the couch fully clothed, sometimes listening to relaxing music, the most appropriate crystals are placed on and around your body and you are taken through a relaxation routine. As you relax the crystals do their work. |

Homeopathy How does Homeopathy work? Homeopaths treat disease using very low dose preparations administered according to the principle that "like should be cured with like." Practitioners use highly diluted substances that would, if given undiluted to a healthy volunteer, cause the symptoms which the patient is experiencing. For example, the homeopathic remedy Apis is derived from bee sting. If someone is stung by a bee, they might expect an area of pink or red, painful swelling to occur. Apis can be used to treat similar symptoms in patients, in conditions such as oedema, bites or spots. The founder, Hahnemann, believed that the approach to being well should be addressed from a viewpoint of vitality (life and health of the whole individual) rather than the study of disease and the suppression of symptoms. This vitality is described as vital force and it keeps the body healthy unless it is disturbed in some way, for example by diet, injury, trauma, shock, toxicity, mental disturbance or emotional upset. Of course these kind of things happen to us all the time and different individuals respond in different ways. Some may not be affected but others may start to produce symptoms. An obvious example of this is that when we are tired, run down or stressed we are more likely to experience symptoms which we often call ‘a cold’. Homeopathy works energetically to restore vitality so homeopaths look at the whole body and the balance within it, including the emotional aspects, rather than the specific part which is affected.

Bowen Technique
Eileen Smith
What is Bowen? A Bowen Technique treatment affects the body in ways that promote healing, pain relief and recovery of energy. The experience of the treatment is gentle, subtle and relaxing and it is these features that make the Bowen Technique so unique. What problems benefit from Bowen? |
|||
|
|
||
|
What does the treatment involve? A Bowen Technique treatment will take approximately 45 minutes and most of the work can be performed through light clothing. Two or three treatments, at weekly intervals, are often sufficient to achieve lasting relief from even long standing pain, although further treatments may sometimes be required. To receive maximum benefit it is recommended that other physical treatments (eg. massage, reflexology, physiotherapy, etc) are not mixed with the Bowen Technique within one week of a treatment. How does it work?
Eileen uses her thumbs
and fingers on precise points on the body to make rolling type moves
which aim to disturb the muscles, soft tissue and energy within the
body. During the treatment there are periods in which the client is left
resting to allow the body to absorb the gentle moves that have been
performed. This gives the body time to make the subtle and fine
adjustments that help to relive tension, reduce pain and initiate the
healing process. The Bowen Technique encourages the body to realign
itself; there is no manipulation or adjustment of hard tissue and no
force is used or needed – it is not a form of massage. The Bowen Technique also addresses many other conditions and is generally regarded as safe and effective for ALL AGES. Eileen has successfully treated clients from babies & young children to the very elderly. Other professionals that use the Bowen Technique include osteopaths, chiropractors, sports therapists, nurses, midwives, hospice workers, and physiotherapists.
